Hathaway Jupiter 7-ft Pool Table - Black with Red Felt
Shipping & Delivery
Overview
The Jupiter is Hathaway's 7-ft mid-range pool table, built on an engineered wood MDF cabinet with a black melamine finish and 5.5-in extra-wide top rails. The 0.71-in playfield is 73 in L x 37 in W — a true 7-ft regulation playing surface. At 198 lb assembled on a 84 in L x 48 in W cabinet, it provides enough mass for stable play without the freight complexity of heavier 8-ft tables. Red felt with K-66 rubber cushions.
5.5-in top rails covered in black melamine with drop pockets and corner caps. Leg levelers standard. Ships LTL in a single 271 lb carton. Assembly approximately 45 minutes. Includes 2 pool cues (57 in), ball set, chalk, table brush, and racking triangle. 180-day limited warranty. Rated for ages 3 and up.
Construction
Top rails are 5.5 in wide — wider than the 3.5-in rails on entry-level tables. Wider rails provide more ball-stopping surface when a shot overshoots the pocket opening, and give players a wider rest surface for bridge shots and cue chalk application without leaning over the pocket area.
The 73 in x 37 in surface is 0.71 in thick — thicker than the 0.625 in on the Maverick and Spartan combination tables. This playfield depth provides consistent ball roll across the full surface without the center-field sag that develops in thinner playfields under repeated impact loading.
MDF cabinet with black melamine coating. Black melamine resists the moisture at the surface level common in basement environments and provides a high-contrast background against the red felt playing surface.
K-66 profile cushions provide a faster rebound speed than the K-55 standard. On a 7-ft table where ball momentum at the rail is lower than on longer tables, K-66 compensates by delivering a crisper bounce that keeps the ball moving across the field after rail contact.
Six drop pockets are mounted in the standard regulation positions. ABS corner caps protect the cabinet corners — the areas most likely to receive contact during cue shots near the rail — from edge chipping.
Adjustable leg levelers on each leg compensate for uneven floor grades. At 198 lb, the table requires two people to move but can be repositioned without disassembly if needed.
Buyer's Guide
At $899.99 MSRP, the Jupiter and Hustler 7-ft (BG2515PB) are the same price with similar specs. The Jupiter uses a 0.71-in playfield with K-66 cushions and a 73 in x 37 in playing surface. The Hustler 7-ft uses a 0.75-in playfield with a wider 78 in x 39 in surface and includes a ball return system. The Jupiter ships lighter (231 lb vs. 271 lb at shipping weight) and assembles faster at 45 minutes versus 60 minutes for the Hustler.
Room clearance for a 7-ft table: the 84 in cabinet requires approximately 200 in of room length and 164 in of room width with 58 in of cue clearance on all sides — approximately 16.7 ft x 13.7 ft minimum. A 7-ft table fits in rooms where an 8-ft table (requiring 168 in x 132 in minimum) would not leave adequate clearance. LTL freight required; plan for a ground-level receiving location.
