Overview

Hathaway Alpine 8-ft Outdoor Pool Table HDF cabinet, aluminum hardware, UV-resistant felt, 1-year warranty.

The Alpine is the only outdoor-rated pool table in Hathaway's lineup, built from high-density fiberboard (HDF) with aluminum hardware throughout — the same outdoor-spec material combination used in the Highlander outdoor foosball table. Every surface is weatherproofed: UV-resistant blue felt, sealed HDF panels, and K-55 gum rubber cushions rated for outdoor temperature cycling. Cabinet dimensions are 99 in L x 55 in W x 31 in H at 305.8 lb. Playing surface is 88 in L x 44 in W at 1 in thick.

Includes a table cover for outdoor storage. Ships LTL in a single 334.4 lb carton. Assembly approximately 50 minutes. Full accessory kit included. 1-year limited warranty — double the 180-day coverage on indoor models. Rated for ages 3 and up.

01High-Density Fiberboard Cabinet

HDF at 800–900 kg/m³ is denser than standard MDF. Higher density reduces moisture infiltration at panel edges and cut surfaces — the primary failure mode for composite wood products installed outdoors. The HDF panels are sealed at the surface level to further resist precipitation and condensation.

02Aluminum Hardware Throughout

Pocket frames, corner caps, and structural hardware are aluminum — the only pool table in Hathaway's lineup with non-ferrous metal hardware. Aluminum does not corrode under outdoor moisture and UV exposure where chrome-plated steel hardware would develop rust at the plating breach points over 12–24 months of outdoor installation.

03UV-Resistant Felt

The blue felt on the playing surface is treated for UV resistance. Standard billiard felt fades noticeably within one season of direct outdoor sun exposure; UV-resistant felt retains its color significantly longer under the same conditions.

04K-55 Gum Rubber Cushions

Gum rubber cushion compound maintains elasticity across a wider outdoor temperature range than standard billiard rubber. Standard rubber cushions lose elasticity in cold and become sticky in heat — gum rubber is more stable across the seasonal temperature swing of an outdoor installation.

051-in Thick Weatherproof Playfield

The 88 in x 44 in playing surface is 1 in thick HDF sealed against moisture. At 1 in, the surface mass resists the thermal expansion cycling that causes thinner surfaces to develop warps and high spots in outdoor environments.

06Table Cover Included

A protective table cover is included in the box for storage between sessions. The cover adds UV protection for the felt during extended periods of non-use and keeps the playing surface dry in light precipitation.

What outdoor-rated means for a pool table four materials that must all be outdoor-spec.

An outdoor pool table requires all four of these to be outdoor-spec: playing surface (sealed or UV-treated), cabinet panels (moisture-resistant material, sealed at edges), hardware (non-corrosive metal — aluminum or stainless, not chrome steel), and cushions (gum rubber, not standard billiard rubber). A table that is "weather-resistant" in its marketing but uses standard MDF panels, chrome hardware, and untreated felt will fail within two to three outdoor seasons. The Alpine addresses all four: HDF panels, aluminum hardware, UV-resistant felt, and gum rubber cushions.

The 1-year warranty on the Alpine is double the 180-day standard on all indoor Hathaway tables — the extended coverage reflects the higher material cost of outdoor-spec construction and the manufacturer's confidence in its outdoor durability. At $2,359.99, the Alpine is the most expensive table in Hathaway's lineup by $560 over the Montecito ($1,799.99). The premium is justified by the outdoor material specification: HDF and aluminum cost more than MDF and standard hardware at the same table dimensions.
