Overview

Pulp Fiction Pinball Machine Quentin Tarantino's personal commission — Mark Ritchie design, 250+ film lines, Play Mechanix + Chicago Gaming build.

Pulp Fiction Pinball was developed at Quentin Tarantino's personal request — Tarantino wanted a 1980s-style Pulp Fiction-themed pinball machine for his home. Tarantino's continued involvement throughout development shaped the final game. He rarely licenses his intellectual property, which makes this cabinet a singular release.

Mark Ritchie — a legendary pinball designer credited on multiple Bally/Williams classics — designed the playfield. David Thiel built the sound design using over 250 lines from the film's cast and five licensed songs from the original soundtrack. Josh Sharpe wrote the rule set. Scott Pikulski produced the vintage-inspired art package. The cabinet was developed by Play Mechanix in collaboration with Chicago Gaming Company.

Construction

Built for the floor.

01Tarantino-Commissioned Design

Tarantino personally commissioned the cabinet for his home game room and remained involved throughout development. The cabinet ships from a development cycle that Tarantino directly shaped — an extremely unusual production arrangement in pinball.

02Mark Ritchie Playfield Layout

Mark Ritchie — credited on multiple Bally/Williams classics — designed the playfield. The geometry appears comparable to 1980s-era games on the surface but contains more mechanisms and rule depth than most modern pinball machines.

03250+ Licensed Film Lines

David Thiel built the sound design using over 250 iconic lines from Pulp Fiction's legendary cast. Five licensed songs from the original film soundtrack and several original compositions round out the audio package.

04Josh Sharpe Rule Set

Josh Sharpe wrote the cabinet's rule set — designed to be intuitive for casual players while deep enough to engage skilled players. The dual-audience rule design is unusual.

05Scott Pikulski Art Package

Scott Pikulski's vintage-inspired art carries across the cabinet, translite, and playfield inserts. The aesthetic intentionally references 1980s pinball art rather than current production styles.

06Play Mechanix + Chicago Gaming Build

The cabinet was built through a collaboration between Play Mechanix (the team behind Big Buck Hunter and the Raw Thrills lineup) and Chicago Gaming Company (the team behind the Bally/Williams remake program). The shared production infrastructure is meaningful for service.

Buyer's Guide

How to think about this purchase.

Tarantino's personal involvement is the central buying argument. He rarely licenses his IP, and this cabinet exists because he commissioned it. For collectors and fans of Tarantino's filmography, the title is effectively non-replicable.

Mark Ritchie's design pedigree matters at this price point. Ritchie is credited on Diner, Black Knight 2000, and other Bally/Williams classics — the design language on Pulp Fiction is more deeply considered than most single-edition pinball releases.

The Play Mechanix + Chicago Gaming collaboration produces a cabinet with broad service support. Operators running titles from either manufacturer can apply familiar service procedures.

The single-edition production simplifies purchasing — no Pro/Premium tier decision, one cabinet, one price point.
