HDF is denser than standard MDF — typically 800–900 kg/m³ versus 650–750 kg/m³ for MDF. The higher density reduces water infiltration at cut edges and damaged surface points, which is the primary failure mode for composite wood panels in outdoor environments.
02Full Protective Laminate on All Surfaces
Every exterior surface — cabinet sides, rails, and playfield — carries a protective laminate coating. The laminate acts as a moisture barrier, preventing the surface swelling and delamination that occurs when uncoated MDF or HDF is exposed to rain or morning dew.
030.5-in Waterproof Playfield
The 46 in x 26.75 in playing surface is 0.5 in thick and fully waterproofed. At 0.5 in, this is one of the thicker playfields in Hathaway's lineup and maintains its flat profile through the moisture cycling common in outdoor environments.
04Aluminum Handles
All handles are aluminum — the only foosball table in Hathaway's lineup to use this material. Aluminum does not absorb water, does not swell, does not corrode under UV exposure, and does not develop the surface tackiness that ABS and wood handles exhibit after extended outdoor exposure.
05EZ-Spin Bearings on All Rods
EZ-Spin bearings on every rod. In outdoor environments, bearing exposure to particulate matter (pollen, dust, grit) from the surrounding air increases bearing wear compared to indoor installations — EZ-Spin bearings are designed for lower maintenance intervals.
06Nylon Cover Included
A nylon cover is included specifically for outdoor storage between sessions. The laminate surfaces protect against rain; the nylon cover adds UV protection for the playfield surface during extended periods of non-use in direct sunlight.
